Measure the whole putting station before buying a mat

Separate a putting mat's stated footprint from stance, access and storage requirements in your own room.

Measure the station as well as the mat

The PuttOUT Medium Mat page states a rolled-flat size of 240 cm by 50 cm. Those dimensions describe the mat, not the whole space needed for a person, putter, access path and any compatible accessory. Draw the actual room and keep those additional requirements separate. The real putting photograph shows a putter, ball and hole on a green, not an indoor installation or a demonstration of this product. It makes the equipment context visible while providing no evidence that a particular room, floor surface or arrangement is suitable.

Calculate the footprint without calling it clearance

The stated rectangle has an area of 2.4 m × 0.5 m = 1.20 square metres. That arithmetic is useful for a room sketch, but it is not an operating-clearance recommendation. For a fictional available rectangle 300 cm long and 100 cm wide, the dimensional differences are 60 cm in length and 50 cm in width. Those are total differences, not automatically clear space on every side. A doorway swing, furniture edge or circulation route can matter even if the floor area looks large enough when reduced to a single number.

Manufacturer flat dimensions: 240 cm × 50 cm; Converted rectangle: 2.4 m × 0.5 m; Mat-only footprint: 1.20 m²; not full operating space
No stance, access or full-swing clearance is prescribed.

Keep printed distances separate from overall length

The product description mentions printed distance markings up to 6 feet. That is a different field from the full 240 cm mat length. Do not assume that every centimetre of material represents a marked putting distance or that an accessory at the far end adds no space requirement. NIST's exact inch conversion can help interpret units, but a conversion does not establish how the product is used. Preserve the manufacturer's actual layout and instructions with the room sketch rather than replacing them with a drawing based only on the longest dimension.

Fictional available rectangle: 300 cm × 100 cm; Total length difference: 300 − 240 = 60 cm; Total width difference: 100 − 50 = 50 cm; not approved clearances
A dimensional difference does not certify a suitable setup.

Do not equate a home surface with a golf course

The manufacturer states a Stimp reading for its product, but that is not our measurement of your floor or a promise that practice will reproduce a particular Australian green. Keep the actual supporting surface, product condition and setup instructions in the record. The glove and ball photograph shows separate equipment, while the headcovers illustrate storage accessories rather than an indoor safety arrangement. Do not use these images to justify swinging a different club in the same space. This article concerns a putting-station purchase record and provides no full-swing clearance or room-safety certification.

Plan how the room returns to everyday use

Record the documented roll-up or storage method, the storage location and the route by which equipment is put away. Avoid treating a mat that fits on paper as proof that it suits a shared room. Keep any open question about the surface or accessories with the actual instructions before purchase. The finished comparison should state the mat's known footprint, your measured available space and the unresolved arrangement details. It helps expose a mismatch without inventing a universal stance allowance, promising a flat roll under every condition or suggesting that buying a mat alone improves putting performance.
